Good Samaritan Returns $40k Diamond Ring Found on Beach
Deciding to spend the rest of your life with that special person is one of the best feelings, so you can imagine how losing the symbol of that love would probably be one of the worst—more so if the symbol in question is a VERY large diamond ring. Luckily for the Jacksonville couple who actually went through this, a scrappy beach scavenger saved the day.
Joseph Cook was scouring Florida’s St. Augustine beach for random items, when he discovered the shiny gemstone with his metal detector. Cook caught the moment on video and posted it online in search of the individual who lost it.
Unaware of what the find was worth, he took it to a jewelry store where, to his surprise, he learned the diamond and its platinum band were appraised at over $40K. Even after knowing the ring’s value, Joseph still looked for the owners—now that’s a good Samaritan.
Good News Network reports that Cook started receiving calls from a number he didn’t recognize, which he suddenly realized could be the owners. He jumped on a video call with a couple who had lost a very similar ring and, as soon as they saw the band, she burst into tears in disbelief. Shortly thereafter, Joseph delivered what can only be described as “the best regifting of a wedding ring.”
Cook mentioned he enjoys finding lost items and that “karma’s always good. Every time I return an item, I find something better.” If that’s the case, we can’t wait to hear what he finds next!
